Today I Missed You Terribly

Today I missed You terribly, but

No more than any other day.

I remember when we first met,

We took pictures only to find out that

The rolls were blank and the camera was broken.

I still have those pictures in my mind,

And maybe they look better there.

But I sure do wish I could see them.

I never know how to look at the things You gave me.

I have always hated the idea of returning gifts,

Because when I gave them there was no condition,

Only a feeling that nothing can change whether or not those memories are returned.

And there will come a day when You or I

Find some trinket or piece of junk and

Will be suddenly overcome with the

Warmth of old love.

It will probably happen when You need it the most,

And I could never take that away.
