Could It Not Be Possible
Could it not be possible?
To look the world in the face,
The rage,
Unbridled star-destroying might,
and say,
“I love you.”
Could it not be possible?
To put self-service to bed,
To sink into bliss,
Sink into the arms of a much grander Mother
Who gives with absence and depth,
Unthinkable dark depths,
Breathing awful fires that fuel the forge of life.
Could it not be possible?
To see that striving casts
The very bonds that chain us,
Making us as good as strangers,
Teaching us that we are mere visitors
And not mirrors held up to the sun.
You are not a stranger here.
Could it not be possible?
To fall in love
With this marvelous and wicked expression
Without falling into the trap
That there is anything you can hold on to
Or that there could ever be the possibility
Of grasping it at all.
Any direction you wish.
No matter the point you choose,
You will always be in the center of the sphere.
I met the entire Universe on the street.
They had no idea at all
The miraculous things they had dreamt up.
They told me
They were the servant of a warrior god
Who demanded peace-
What a task to set before yourself!
